In addition to the regularly scheduled canal boat cruises in the afternoon, the Whitewater Canal Historic Site will be offering three additional cruises at 5:00, 6:00, and 7:00 p.m. Folk musician, John Kogge of Oxford, Ohio will be on board to entertain you as you cruise quietly up and down the canal.

"PLAY BALL" 1838 STYLE: What did the people of Indiana have in the way of sports in 1838, a time when there was no football, basketball or even baseball as we know it? One of the sports they enjoyed was the venerable old English game of cricket which had been brought to American during the colonial era and was being played in Indiana itself as early as 1825. Visitors to this years Celebrate 1838 event will have an opportunity to personally relive this long lost sporting tradition by joining in the short, informal, 19th century cricket games that American cricket player and historian Tom Melville will be conducting on both Saturday and Sunday. The games will be run on a continuous walkup basis and are open to everyone. Absolutely no experience required. So come and discover what "play ball" meant to Americans in 1838!
Watch as a broom maker makes old fasioned brooms and and a covered wagon will be brought in by a weaver with his looms and spinning wheels.
